The model

The E-2 visa is granted to an investor who develops and directs a real, operating enterprise. It is not granted for a business plan. We start from the business, because the business is what the consular officer evaluates.

TealBridge is not a law firm and not a visa broker. We do not sell visas or place clients into identical franchises. We identify a business that fits your capital and experience, complete the acquisition or the launch, and prepare the operational record. Your immigration attorney files the case.

The order matters. A business assembled only to support a filing reads as one. A business with real revenue, staff, and a defensible plan reads as what it is.

Eligibility

The E-2 visa is tied to the nationality of a treaty country, not to your country of birth or residence. Whether you qualify depends on the passport you hold, not on where you live now.

For applicants whose current nationality is not a treaty country, the usual route is a second citizenship in one. Programs exist in Grenada, Turkey, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, and Montenegro, among others; terms, timelines, and eligibility differ and are assessed case by case. We do not compare programs by price and do not quote timelines we cannot stand behind.

Citizenship acquisition is handled by a dedicated provider. TealBridge assesses whether the route applies and sequences the steps so the business and the visa case are ready when the citizenship is. If you already hold the nationality of a treaty country, this step does not apply.

Where we work

TealBridge works across service businesses that support an E-2 case: commercial cleaning, construction and renovation, food-service franchises, and e-commerce. Most engagements run from about $100,000 to $1,000,000 in invested capital, sized to the business rather than to a target.

The typical configuration is an existing business with revenue and staff, acquired and transitioned, or a new operation built to the same standard. We work across 20 states; specific locations follow the mandate.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum investment?

There is no fixed statutory minimum. The investment must be substantial in proportion to the cost of the business. For most service businesses this begins around $100,000. We size a realistic budget for your specific case.

How long does the process take?

Sourcing and diligence run in parallel with case preparation. We commit to dates in the mandate, not before it.

Can the visa be denied?

Yes. The decision rests with the consular officer and USCIS. We prepare the business and the record to the E-2 standard and work alongside your immigration attorney; we do not guarantee approval.

Which countries are eligible?

The E-2 visa is available to nationals of treaty countries, roughly 81 in total. Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan are not on the list. If your nationality is not on it, a second citizenship in a treaty country is the usual route; see Eligibility.

Do I have to relocate immediately?

You must develop and direct the business, which requires presence, though not from the first day. We structure management so the requirement is met in practice.

What if the business underperforms?

We select for businesses with existing revenue and defensible economics, and we build a realistic model rather than an optimistic one. Operating risk remains real; we plan for it rather than around it.

Do you replace an immigration attorney?

No. We prepare the business and the financial record. Legal representation and the filing stay with your attorney, with whom we coordinate.

How do you document source of funds?

We assemble a traceable record from a lawful origin to the business account: bank statements, tax filings, sale agreements, and gifts where relevant.

What about my family?

The E-2 covers a spouse and children under 21. The spouse may apply for work authorization once the visa is issued.

What does the engagement cost?

It depends on the scope: sourcing, acquisition support, operational setup, and the visa record. We quote after the consultation, once the mandate is clear.
